Shocking Number of People Dying from Alcohol Abuse

New research reveals that tens of thousands of people in England are dying from the effects of alcohol abuse. Heavy drinking now will lead to problems like liver failure and in the next five years, almost 63,000 people will die from similar effects.

Experts have called on the British government to crack down on alcohol advertising and pricing, to avoid thousands of deaths between 2017 and 2022.

The findings came out of Sheffield University’s Alcohol Research Group who also discovered that treatment for misuse will cost the government £16.74 billion within the same time frame.
