Melbourne has relaxed its drinking laws for small bars and music venues, removing the ban on serving alcoholic drinks after 1am.
In a post on TheMusic.com.au it was revealed that the liquor licence that stopped boutique bars and small music venues from serving alcohol at a certain time was introduced in 2008. It was hoped this would lower drinking-related violence in the streets, but Liquor Regulation Minister Jane Garrett said research reveals those venues are low risk, hence the changes to the law.
