According to the latest research, one in twenty British women are skipping meals in favour of alcohol in an effort to lose weight. This type of behaviour has been termed ‘drunkorexic’.
Experts have warned that booze contains empty calories so skipping a meal in favour of a drink could actually be starving your body of essential vitamins.
Researchers say alcoholic drinks contain trace amounts of vitamins and minerals but these aren’t enough to make a significant contribution to our diet.
